Urgent Appeal: Support Ukrainian Families Amidst Escalating Civilian Casualties - Casa Ucrania Foundation

Amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Casa Ucrania Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to support evacuees, especially families with children and individuals with limited mobility, from heavily affected areas in the east and south.

In collaboration with Ukrainian partners, we provide psychological support, and various social services, facilitate enrollment in national systems for access to essential services, offer referrals for legal assistance, and support educational assistance programs.

UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU)

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) reports a tragic milestone, with the civilian death toll surpassing 10,000, including a heartbreaking count of 560 children. Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, over 18,500 injuries have been recorded, predominantly caused by explosive weapons.

Notably, older individuals face a disproportionate risk, given their challenges in relocating to safer places. According to HRMMU's Danielle Bell, nearly half of recent civilian casualties occurred away from the frontlines, underscoring the pervasive insecurity across Ukraine.

As the war enters its second winter, Russian aerial attacks persist, with Kyiv witnessing missile strikes after a two-month hiatus. Other regions, particularly the east and south, continue to endure intense bombardments, resulting in tragic civilian deaths.

In a recent UN Security Council briefing

In a recent UN Security Council briefing, Miroslav Jenča warned of potential escalations in attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure during the winter. Urgent international support is needed for the UN’s inter-agency winter response plan.

Matthew Hollingworth, WFP’s Country Director in Ukraine, highlighted that approximately one in five Ukrainian families face severe food insecurity. The situation is dire, and your support can make a meaningful impact. Donate to Casa Ucrania Foundation now to help those affected by this crisis.
